Question : Can I keep my phone number if I am a Plan Dropper?
Answer : If you are dropping your plan it is better to call your service provider. Since wireless number portability was launched, this policy can be unclear. The success of dropping your plan and keeping your number really depends on who you speak to at your cellular service provider. There have been cases where they have done it but it appears to a lot more complicate to get done. If you transfer your number, they usually require you to pay the early termination fees before instigating the porting request. This doesn't apply if you perform a transfer of responsibility and you don't want to keep your number.
